Magnificent Sunflowers

"Flowers have an expression of countenance as much as men and animals. Some seem to smile; some have a sad expression; some are pensive and diffident; others again are plain, honest and upright, like the broad-faced sunflower and the hollyhock." ~ Henry Ward Beecher

Threshing Time | Sarnia/ Lambton County Events Photographers

A family friend alerted me to the fact that they would be threshing oats a few side roads over from our home. I was under the weather, but I dragged myself over anyway because I knew it would be an opportunity I wouldn't want to miss. When two of my girls and I arrived, the men were sitting in the shade cooling off with some beverages of choice :o). We sat and waited until they were ready to get to work again. It was a neat sight to see and I'm glad we were invited to watch!

A Successful Geocaching Afternoon| Sarnia/ Lambton County Photographers

After a bit of deliberation about what to do on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, it was decided we would go geocaching. However, we had a destination in mind. On one of the roads we frequent, are two abandoned houses in a row. I imagine they were both beautiful in their time, but I have always especially loved the one and have often imagined what it might have looked like inside when it was still a home.

Although much smaller, the one next door to this beauty was charming in its day too, sadly, the porch is gone and it has lost much of its curb appeal because of that. Notice the date in the peak says 1899. This house is over 200 years old!!

I love the tree growing out of the silo! I was very happy to finally capture this bit of history on my camera.

Initially, we thought this place was abandoned too. It is empty, but upon closer inspection, you will see that it has a new roof, new doors, and new windows. I love the two chimneys, and it looks lovely from the front, but check out the back.

Well, if that isn't just a little strange!

An Evening Walk | Sarnia/ Lambton County Photographers

It was a beautiful spring evening. It actually wasn't sunny, but the temperature was perfect for a walk. My son, the dog, and I headed to the back bush. It's so nice to have lots of trails to take and new discoveries to make.

The honeysuckle bushes are starting to bloom.

I got all excited to discover pink trilliums, only to learn after a little research that as the white ones age they turn pink! So pretty!

There are just carpets of white through the bush. It's quite a sight as dusk begins to creep in.

Evening stillness over the pond. Some of those trees have yet to begin leafing out.

More old farm equipment. I'd like to drag this piece home :o).

Apple Blossoms | Sarnia/ Lambton County Photographers

Every year I look forward to the apple blossoms with great anticipation. This year are trees are loaded and exceptionally beautiful. They are remarkably untouched by the cold nights and frosty mornings we have been having.

It's too bad their season is so short because I can hardly get enough of their pale pink beauty.

Winter Line Drying | Sarnia/ Lambton County Photographers

What can be better in the depths of winter than line drying a load of jeans. It may be a little hard on the fingers, but is sure is easy on the pocket book :o)!

For the Musically Inclined | Sarnia/ Lambton County Photographers

I was feeling a little inspired a week or so ago to play with an idea that I had in my head. Here are the results. If you're at all musically inclined, you might enjoy these photos.
